Luján Statement on 11th Anniversary of Affordable Care Act

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) issued the following statement marking the 11th anniversary of the Affordable Care Act being signed into law:

“Eleven years after President Obama signed the Affordable Care Act, this landmark legislation is more crucial than ever. Despite countless attacks from congressional Republicans, the ACA has persevered. It has cut New Mexico’s uninsured rate by half and provided protections for the more than 800,000 New Mexicans with pre-existing conditions. Today, the threat of COVID-19 has made it clear that, when you get sick, you should be able to see your doctor and get the treatment you need. I will work with my Democratic colleagues in the Senate and with the Biden administration to strengthen and expand quality, affordable health care for all Americans.”
