This Week in Albuquerque: Luján Visits Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office, Meets with Local Business Leaders Amid Tariff Chaos and Confusion
Albuquerque, N.M. – U.S. Senator Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) concluded a series of events in Albuquerque this week, visiting the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office to discuss public safety and meeting with local business leaders to discuss the impacts of President Trump’s reckless tariffs on New Mexico businesses and workers. These meetings follow his tour through Northern and Central New Mexico last week.
“On the second week of my New Mexico tour, I had the opportunity to meet with the law enforcement officers who work tirelessly to keep our communities safe, as well as with local business leaders who are paying the price for President Trump’s reckless tariffs,” said Senator Luján. “From visiting the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office to stopping by Red Rock Coffee Roasters to hosting a roundtable with local business leaders, I spoke directly with New Mexicans who are the backbone of our state. These conversations will guide my work in Washington as I continue pushing for policies that make our communities stronger and safer.”

Senator Luján convened a roundtable with local businesses and the New Mexico Chamber of Commerce to discuss the real impact of President Trump’s tariffs on New Mexico businesses. The discussion focused on how President Trump’s tariffs are driving up costs, threatening jobs, and putting local economies at risk.
