Luján To Secretary Kennedy: It’s Clear You’re Not Listening To Qualified Experts

Washington, D.C. – Today, during a Senate Finance Committee hearing, U.S. Senator Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) pressed U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. on ignoring well-established science and endangering the health of the American people.
Prior to the Finance Committee hearing, Senator Luján joined all Finance Committee Democrats in demanding Robert F. Kennedy Jr. resign from his position as secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Key Moments from the Senate Finance Committee Hearing:
Watch the exchange with Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. here.
On Secretary Kennedy’s Refusal to Answer Questions:
Sen. Luján: Mr. Secretary, someone should’ve asked you, maybe President Trump should have asked you: Are you a trustworthy person and we should’ve waited for an answer then.
Sec. Kennedy: I don’t know what you’re talking about, you’re talking gibberish.
Sen. Luján: Mr. Secretary, let me speak slowly and clearly so you can understand me through my New Mexico accent. Does this help, can you understand me?
On Questioning Secretary Kennedy’s Actions That Have Endangered Public Health:
Sen. Luján: Mr. Kennedy, with all the questions here today, people just want to know the truth.
Sec. Kennedy: I don’t think so.
Sen. Luján: Mr. Secretary, you don’t think so? Thank you. I hope everyone recording that got that because there explains the Secretary’s tenure here.
As the Measles outbreak continues to spread across the country and impact our public health, Senator Luján has repeatedly demanded action from HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. to contain the measles outbreak.
