Luján: President Trump is Using His Shutdown to Inflict Maximum Pain on New Mexico and Terminate Energy Projects That Lower Costs for Families

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) issued the following statement on the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announcing it would terminate funding for 10 energy projects in New Mexico:
“Let me be clear: President Trump is using his own shutdown as a tool for political retribution – targeting energy projects that create good-paying jobs and help lower costs for families. The president is taking jobs away from hardworking New Mexicans and jacking up costs for New Mexico families.
“The termination of these energy investments in New Mexico is a blatant political stunt and I will continue to stand up against this administration’s abuse of power.”
