During Three-Week Tour Across New Mexico, Luján Holds Events in Six Counties, Hosts Two More Town Halls

Focus Includes Health Care, Nutrition, Local Economies, Tribal Priorities, and Public Safety

Las Cruces, N.M. – This week, U.S. Senator Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) concluded a series of events in Southern and Central New Mexico, wrapping up a three-week statewide tour that included events with health care providers, business leaders, agricultural producers, and Tribal leaders. During the three-week tour, Senator Luján met with New Mexicans across six counties to listen to their concerns and highlight efforts to combat the devastating cuts in the Republicans Budget Betrayal.

This week, Senator Luján visited Las Cruces, Sandoval County, and the Pueblo of Jemez, engaging directly with New Mexicans to discuss the challenges they face and reaffirm his commitment to fighting for New Mexico’s families, children, seniors, and communities. Throughout the month, Senator Luján traveled across all three Congressional districts, hosting events and town halls to hear directly from New Mexicans. He has now hosted town halls in Las Cruces, Taos, Albuquerque, and Santa Fe. 

“As I wrap up the third week of my New Mexico tour, I’ve traveled across all three Congressional districts – hosting town halls, meeting with local and Tribal leaders, and sitting down with health care providers, small business owners, and agricultural producers,” said Senator Luján. “One thing is clear: The Republican Budget Betrayal is hurting New Mexicans. In addition to the reckless tariffs, the Trump administration and Congressional Republicans are making life harder and more expensive for families, seniors, and communities across the state.  

“From hosting my fourth town hall in recent months, to visiting the Sandoval County Sheriff’s Department, to meeting with health care, agricultural, and Tribal leaders, I spent this week hearing directly from New Mexicans in Southern and Central New Mexico. While Congressional Republicans are avoiding their constituents, I believe showing up and listening to the people you represent is an essential part of the job,”continued Senator Luján. “I’m proud to have spent this month traveling our state, and I’ll return to Washington with the voices and concerns of New Mexicans continuing to guide my work in the Senate.”

Meeting with Sandoval County Sheriff Department

Senator Luján visited the Sandoval County Sheriff Department to discuss Congressionally Directed Spending projects he helped to secure for the County. Additionally, Senator Luján engaged in a discussion on public safety, technology, and the resources needed to keep our communities safe.

Las Cruces Town Hall

In Las Cruces, Senator Luján held his fourth town hall in recent months to hear directly from New Mexicans and take questions from New Mexicans on their concerns.

Listening Session on Food Security & Agriculture in Las Cruces

Senator Luján visited Casa de Peregrinos in Las Cruces to tour the facility and engage in a roundtable discussion on the impacts of cuts to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits and United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) programs.

Health Care Roundtable at Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces

Senator Luján visited Memorial Medical Center and convened a roundtable with local health care leaders to hear their concerns regarding cuts to Medicare, Medicaid, and other critical health care programs in the Republicans’ Budget Betrayal.

Small Business Roundtable in Las Cruces

Senator Luján convened a roundtable with local small business owners and economic development leaders to discuss the real impact of President Trump’s tariffs on New Mexico businesses. The discussion focused on how President Trump’s tariffs are driving up costs, threatening jobs, and putting local economies at risk.

All Pueblo Council of Governors Meeting

Senator Luján joined the All Pueblo Council of Governors (APCG) for a meeting to hear directly from the APCG on their priorities.
