Luján Statement on Senate Vote to Codify Reproductive Rights

Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) issued the following statement after voting to pass the Women’s Health Protection Act to codify Roe v. Wade into federal law:

“Today, not a single Senate Republican voted in favor of the Women’s Health Protection Act – making it clear to the American people where they stand on women’s health. These decades-long attacks on reproductive health care will put the most vulnerable women at risk, ignore 50-years of precedent, and turn back the clock on progress.

“While Senate Republicans stood in the way of protecting reproductive rights, I was proud to stand up for the majority of New Mexicans – and all Americans – who support Roe. This fight isn’t over, and I know that my colleagues and I remain committed to supporting reproductive health care.”
