Luján Joined Panel Discussion with Latino Hotel Industry Leaders on COVID-19 Relief in American Rescue Plan

Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) joined the Latino Hotel Association for a panel discussion on COVID-19 relief and how it will benefit struggling hotels and revitalize the tourism industry. While speaking, Luján highlighted the law’s expanded funding for the Paycheck Protection Program and the Economic Injury Disaster Loan Program, two critical programs that will help small businesses recover from this public health crisis. More than 50 hotel industry leaders joined this discussion, and other topics included infrastructure and immigration reform.

“As New Mexico and our country continue to deal with the fallout of COVID-19, tourism and hospitality remains one of the hardest hit industries. The American Rescue Plan provides targeted support for minority-owned businesses and creates a Community Navigator pilot program to improve access to COVID-19 relief for our communities. While this relief package has already made a difference, additional investments are still needed to safely and confidently revitalize tourism across the country,” said Luján. “I was pleased to hear directly from hotel industry leaders about what more Congress can do to help them survive this pandemic and thrive in the future.”
