Luján: Expanded Child Tax Credit Will Help Thousands of New Mexico Families

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) issued the following statement upon the announcement that millions of American households will begin receiving payments through the expanded Child Tax Credit (CTC) program on July 15:

“From the beginning of this pandemic, New Mexico families have struggled to make ends meet. That’s why I worked in the Senate to pass the American Rescue Plan to deliver much-needed relief to New Mexicans, and strengthen the Child Tax Credit to combat child poverty. This landmark law is an investment in our children – our future – that benefits 95% of children across the state.

“This Tax Day, I urge New Mexicans to take full advantage of the Child Tax Credit program, and I’m heartened that households will begin receiving monthly payments this summer. The American Rescue Plan is working, and I’ll continue fighting to ensure New Mexico’s children and families receive critical relief.”
