Luján Delivers Speech to New Mexico State Legislature

Santa Fe, N.M. – Today, U.S. Senator Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) delivered remarks to a joint session of the New Mexico Legislature at the New Mexico State Capitol.

Video of the speech is HERE. Additional photos are available HERE.

An excerpt from the Senator’s remarks can be found below:

It’s always an honor to be in this Chamber, which was like a second home to my father. To be surrounded with friends and family, that’s what this body is. Incredible leaders from all over New Mexico. Every small town, village, big town, and big city is represented here.

My father cared deeply about the Roundhouse, and about you all in this Chamber, and about New Mexico.

It was him who instilled in me the idea of family responsibility, and I know that’s something we can all agree upon here.

When we work on issues, it’s about family. Whether it’s our immediate family or our greater New Mexico family. We’re here to address the challenges that our loved ones face in their daily lives, just as my dad did.

I want to thank you all for what you do every day. Putting people first and understanding the challenges that they’re facing. Making sacrifices to make big things happen.

Thank you all for your hard work and partnership in making New Mexico a better place to live, work, and raise a family for all.
