Heinrich, Luján Applaud Nomination of David O. Barnett Jr for United States Marshal for the District of New Mexico

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senators Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) and Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) welcomed President Joe Biden’s nomination of David O. Barnett Jr. for U.S. Marshal for the District of New Mexico.

“David Barnett has dedicated his career to keeping Americans safe. As the FBI’s Counterintelligence Supervisory Special Agent in the Albuquerque Field Office, Barnett is intimately familiar with the very real impacts of crime in the lives of New Mexicans and understands the needs of our communities. Our state will benefit from his expansive experience, integrity, and deep expertise,” said Heinrich and Luján. “We look forward to working with the Biden administration and our colleagues in the Senate to advance this nomination expeditiously.”

David Barnett has served as a Counterintelligence Supervisory Special Agent in the Albuquerque, New Mexico, Field Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) since 2018. Previously, Mr. Barnett was a Special Agent in the Washington, D.C. Field Office of the FBI. Prior to becoming an FBI Special Agent in 2006, he was an FBI Intelligence Analyst and support staff in the National Capital Region from 1990 to 2006. Mr. Barnett received his B.A. from the University of Phoenix in 2002.
